Powder Under The Eye
Makeup411's Leonard Engelman:You should smooth the area underneath the eyes before powdering to insure your application is flawless before setting. If you have applied concealer thinly under the eyes, you will avoid creases. Powder does not create a crease or accentuate lines-- thick make-up on the thin tissue under the eye does. Various companies have perfected shading or contouring powders. These brush on easily with a blush brush and are almost fool-proof. If the shading is applied too heavy, you can minimize it with a little translucent powder.
Stay-Put Shadow Tricks
When your eyeliner and shadow make an early exit, you can usually blame excess oil. To prevent this disappearing act, makeup artist Joanna Schlip suggests priming your lids first with an oil-free foundation. Try Cover Girl Clean Oil-Control Makeup, $4.88. Once it's dry, use a tissue to soak up any remaining greasiness. Next, apply a cream shadow to the entire lid and let it set -- with eyes closed -- for a minute. We like Almay Bright Eyes Color Cream Shadow, $5.25. Then layer on powder shadow in the same tone. Cream shadow has staying power because it's absorbed into the skin, and the powder shadow soaks up additional oil. Also, liquid eyeliner lasts longer than a pencil. Try Maybelline Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner, $6.93.
Eye Shadow Cream or Powder
Because they're easy to blend, powders are the best pick when you want to use more than one hue (say, one to contour and another to highlight), says Laura Geller, owner of Laura Geller Makeup Studios in New York City. We like YSL Shadow Quartet No. 1, $42. Creams, with their thick, easy-to-apply consistency, create a rich and shiny finish, but they can only be worn one at a time. To prevent creasing, apply an eye-shadow base or a layer of foundation to your lids beforehand.
Blush N Eye Shadow Brushes
According to Cosmo's stylists: "while having your own set of pro-caliber tools is key to creating flawless makeup effects, the little guys that come tucked in with products aren't worthless. For example, while it's not ideal to apply blush with the brush that comes in the packaging (the results tend to be too streaky), that same tool could be used to sweep translucent shadow across your lids. And although picky pros recommend you swap packaged eye-shadow swabs for larger natural-bristle brushes, we think they're perfectly fine as long as you blend the shadow with your fingertips after you sweep it on. You can also use the tip of a sponge eye-shadow applicator to line your eyes or dab on concealer. One investment we recommend everyone make: a natural or soft synthetic bristle makeup brush that you can use for loose powder and blush. You need to distribute those products really well, and nothing gets the job done like a big brush."
Where Are U Supposed 2 Line Your Eye
The entire eye or just the outer corners? There are no strict rules; we think both effects work beautifully but for different occasions. Lining just the outer corners gives you a wide-eyed quality that's right for day. "Rimming your whole eye adds intensity, drama and more of a nighttime feel," says New York City makeup artist Barbara Fazio. A few more liner notes: No matter which effect you're going for, thicken and smudge the line upward as you get to the outermost portion of your eye to create a lifting effect. And apply the liner close to your lash roots to make your lashes look thicker. Pencil liner works perfectly for pulling off both effects, but liquid liner is better suited for lining the whole eye. When using a liquid liner, keep a cotton swab by your side to fix any boo-boos. "Liquid liner is meant to create a sharp, long-lasting line," explains Fazio, "so there's not much room for error with it."

One thing you will spot in almost every video n photo shoot of Britney are the false eye lashes. Well, you won't exactly spot them, you will just notice their awesome dramatic effect.. cos with these tips from her make-up artist, Damien Storm, no false eye lashes will be spotted.
"The trick is to try them on before using your adhesive," he emphasizes. So then you can cut them to fit your eyelid. After that, use a back liquid liner to conceal the false lash line. Then you'll need an eye lash curler - to curle the false lashes n your natural lashes together. You might think getting a "matchine" in the to-look-natural way is contradictory, but it will give your lashes that natural look. The last touch is the mascara, which will make the false n the natural lashes blend; do like Brit n use two coats of a good thick mascara. Ready! You've got the natural-looking fullness you wanted!
Beautiful Brows
Sweet Dreams Salon's Stacey El-Broche does make-up, gives lessons and shapes brows to perfection! This are her tips. When it came to carrying a quality line with a nice color range, she was attracted to PAINT Cosmetiques. "The powders are triple mil pressed with silicone so they're like velvet, and the foundation makes skin look flawless." And she swears by the precision of their tweezers. Precision is key. And when it comes to arching brows, El-Broche has got an eye for it. "You have to know how much to take off, or what not to take off.” Although she is partial to tweezing, when she does wax, she opts for a very sensitive wax that is easy on the skin. "There is a lot you can do to improve brows," says El-Broche, who has nursed many a sparse-looking brow back to health. She recommends tinting really light or thin brows so that they define the face, instead of just blending in. And most importantly, keeping the temptation to self-tweeze under control. An other tip? A: Glad you asked! I had this problem for a while as well, and then I found out the solution. It's loose powder! Take your loose powder and apply a thin coat all over your face, and your eyelids. This helps control the oils that cause the cream eye shadows to crease! Have fun!
Reducing Eye Redness
Source: Cosmopolitan - First, make sure you're getting enough shut-eye -- at least seven hours per night -- says Phillip Calenda, an ophthalmologist in Scarsdale, N.Y. If something's bothering your eyeballs, use artificial teardrops to flush out the irritant. Try Allergan Refresh Tears Lubricant Eye Drops, $7.69. If there's no improvement within a few hours, try drops with naphazoline or pheniramine (they'll constrict blood vessels to reduce redness). A good choice: Clear Eyes Eye Drop Extra Relief, $4.99. If your eyes don't clear up in two days, see your doctor. Avoid pastel and warm-toned eye shadows (like lavender and rust), since they'll play up your crimson-tinted peepers, says NYC makeup artist Sue Devitt.
Overtweezed Brows
Source: Cosmopolitan - What to do when you overtweezed your brows and get them super skimpy. "Stop right there. Don't pluck another hair," says Eliza Petrescu, resident brow guru at New York City's Avon Centre Salon and Spa. "Use brow pencils and shadows to mask their thinness," suggests Petrescu.
First, redraw the framework of your brow with a pencil that matches your hair. Using swift, light, small strokes, draw a line that begins above the inner corner of your eye, goes gradually up to just above the outer rim of your iris, then tapers down. If you need more guidance, check out brow stencils, which you place above your eyes, then simply fill in with a pencil. Try Senna Form-a-Brow, $35.
Once your brow is penciled in, use a small, stiff, slanted brush to layer a hair-matching shadow over the line to create a soft, natural effect. Try Eliza's Eyebrow Essentials To-Go, $45, a kit that contains powders, brushes, pencils, and a tip booklet.
Use gentle strokes to apply it over the pencil until your brows look almost a quarter-inch wide at inner corners and the arches are fluid. "It should take a few weeks for your brows to grow back. Then make sure to have a professional shape them the next time," urges Petrescue.
Perfect-Brow Pointers
Source: Cosmopolitan - To turn a seriously skimpy brow into a thing of beauty, use a brow shadow -- they're easy to blend and create a more realistic effect when you have a lot of filling in to do, says NYC makeup artist Ramy Gafni, creator of Ramy Beauty Therapy. Choose a shadow in a color that's one shade lighter than your natural brow hue (unless your brows are a pale blond, in which case you should go one shade darker). To apply, start from the full part of the brow by your nose and follow the natural line of your arch, pressing lightly for even coverage. Use an eyebrow brush (or a baby toothbrush) to blend the powder in so the effect is even. We like Ramy Miracle Brow kit, $24, and Eliza's Brow Powder, $18.
Brow-Hue Help
Source: Cosmopolitan - I just lightened my hair. Should I do my eyebrows too? "If you match your brows exactly to your newly lightened hair, the total effect can be very fake," cautions Robyn Cosio, makeup artist at the Peter Coppola Salon in N.Y.C. and owner of The Bungalow, an L.A. salon.
If you've only gone a couple of shades lighter or have added scattered highlights, your brows are fine as is. However, if you've gone considerably lighter (like from medium brown to warm blond), then lighten brows just a tad with a tinted brow gel that complements your skin tone. Dark and olive complexions can tone down brows with a swoosh of light-brown brow gel or mascara.
Try Bobbi Brown essentials in sable, $16.50. Light skin tones should use a warm honey shade for a natural effect. Try Robyn Cosio Elegant Eyebrows in Fawn, $20. If you've gone for a drastic color change (like from brown to platinum blond), chemical lightening is your best bet. But don't try this at home, warns Cosio, who tints the arches of Gina Gershon. "You'll run the risk of getting the solution in your eyes, which can cause a serious reaction."
Instead, ask your colorist to mix up a gentle toner (rather than bleach, which can look brassy after a couple of days). The colorist should stroke the solution across eyebrows, leave it on for two to six minutes, then wipe it off with a warm cloth (expect to pay around $15). The results will last for almost two months, during which time you can touch up with a tinted brow gel.
Revive Tired Eyes

Finally, swipe on jet black liner or mascara -- the sable tones will contrast with the whites of your eyes, helping to brighten the look of those bloodshot babies. "Fortunately, certain creams can be very effective in improving the thickness of skin under your eyes," says New Orleans dermatologist Mary P. Lupo. Look for formulas that contain powerful antioxidants like vitamin C, kinetin and soy, which help thicken collagen and hide the blood vessels beneath the tissue, and natural botanicals like sea algae, chamomile and cucumber, which firm the eye area and constrict the blood vessels so they're less noticeable. We like Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Defining Eye Brightener, $42.50; Almay Kinetin Firming and Brightening Eye Cream, $18; and Avon Anew Retroactive Eye Age Reversal Serum, $18 -- all of which also contain particles that reflect light to give the impression of bright eyes.
